Support the BFN, without spending a penny...Many people wonder what the goal of this thing called the
Brain Fried Network is about...
To be honest, I've had to rethink it's goal over the past couple of years several
times...but the core has always remained...to help other people...
How does it do that?
By many ways, one being of which is to help provide content that bloggers can
embed on their own site. This can happen from people visiting the BFN website OR by using the toolbar...but one thing I've found interesting is that bloggers meet in chatrooms and become inspired to write some very
interesting and thought provoking posts based on a conversation they've had. These same chatrooms also
provide an avenue by which bloggers can help one another figure something out...rather than hit "refresh" on a page....it's
been a big help to many...more than I've even thought it'd be. Another way it helps is by providing a means
for those on Xanga.com (and sister sites) to have prizes for contests they might be hosting. Either by us
sponsoring a prize, or by people using the BFN online store for prizes. What else does the BFN do?
The Biggest
thing the BFN does, in my opinion (outside of helping bloggers), is donate a minimum of 10% of any revenue to a reputable charitable organization.
We've already given $50 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to fight Cancer, and we are now looking at donating the next rounds of revenue to Autism.com, to promote Autism awareness and research. So, not only are we helping those online, but we have the ability
to help those in need. How Can I support the BFN?
Well,
obviously, you are free to donate any money to help assist in taking care of the overhead and operations of the site running.
At this time, it takes a total of $12 a month to operate the website and keep the domain name, and $7 per month to keep the
store at it's service level. On my protected posts I tend to discuss more of the financials of the BFN. Whenever
donations are made, I provide screenshots and proof of the donation in posts. Be advised, however, that the BFN is NOT
a 503b...so any donation is NOT tax deductible. You can buy ANYTHING from the BFN online store. The average mark-up is $1 or two. We keep the cost low to ensure the lowest possible pricing for
those wanting the items. At this time the store is almost self-sufficient, and therefore overhead for the
store is mostly covered by store sales. If there's any promotions for free shipping, etc...we pass that
information along via the BFN toolbar. But I have NO Money to offer, and I can't afford anything, how can I help?
This is the easiest way to help...ready for it? - Download and install the BFN toolbar. Just using the toolbar does all what just was shared. I'm ok with people donating money and all, but I figure
that providing something that helps people/entertains people...and that they DON'T have to pay...is much better.
That's why I've gone through the work of dealing with several companies to help provide the content that is available.
What's the big deal about the toolbar, anyways? Thanks for reading this post, and taking the time to check out what we're doing for
Xanga.
Until later, be blessed.
(I know this post was more of a commercial, and again I thank you again for
reading it...if you believe in what the BFN is doing, please feel free to rec'd this post and promote it yourself (and
enjoy the toolbar).....thanks again.)
Update: Thank you everyone who rec'd this post...you're a blessing.
To those who just view the post...thanks for the opportunity to share and taking the time.
